And here we go....are you ready??

So are you ready? I'm talking to you, all you NaNoWriMo writers. It's almost time. How are you going to schedule your time? Do you even plan on sleeping? My goal is to set my alarm early and get up to write more than usual. If the scene is flowing through my fingers I can sometimes get 1,000 words in the morning. Sometimes. It's not always easy. I really haven't found the best time slot for me to write. When I get home from work, I'm too tired. When I wake up in the morning, I'm too tired. Most writers know exactly when to write but I go back and forth.

Either way I'm hoping by writing in the morning and evening, I can do this. I can finish 50,000 while working a full-time job. Plus keep up with my book reviews and reading. I have a goal to get this book done by December 31st, 2010 at 11:59pm. I should be able to get a big chunk of it done in November. Than January, will look for an editor. After that, it's time. I'm going to look for that agent.

I'm also going to try and do a free short story on smashwords. I just want to see how well a piece of my work can do online. Maybe the bad reviews can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I am writing a few words a day for another story I would like to get onto smashwords. Once I finish that story, the next question. How much do you charge? I see people do $1.99 or even up to $5.99 and those two stories will be the same length.

Okay, time to get some reading done.I have a book discussion on Friday and I'm not too far in the book. Hope everyone had a good weekend and good luck as you start writing tomorrow.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Halloween. Doing anything fun this year? Maybe curl up with a good book or a movie? I'm a sucker for books but this time of year I love getting out the movies. My favorites still have to be the Halloween movies with Michael Myers.

When it comes to books, what books do you enjoy this time of year? A couple of my favorites are The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Frankenstein, and Dracula.

Oh Saturday, why are you so lazy?

Why are my Saturdays always lazy? Is it the fact I don't have to go to work? I'm lucky if I even remember to shower. I'm always doing fine in the morning but than it triggers. All of a sudden I'm filled with laziness. What causes it? Is it because it was another long week of more hours of work than sleep?

I remember a time when I loved getting up on Saturdays and I would be active. It would be either doing some activity, watching morning cartoons, and even doing homework. Speaking of Saturday cartoons. What happened to the good ones? I'm not expecting them to be like the ones from the 80s but if there is a cartoon, it doesn't seem right.

Once I was done with the cartoons I would meet up with friends. We would go outside and play. If I was out playing with my friends. One of my parents drove me to the library where I would get sucked into the different worlds.

I should probably get off here so I can finish up a fan fiction story of Pride and Prejudice. I'm down to the last chapter to post on fanfiction.net. It was a fun story to write. Different from my fantasy or sci-fi theme. When I get time again, I might do another story.

Keeping my fingers I do just that. Right now I have Halloween H20 on. What will happen the movie is over? Will I flip the channel to something else or will I actually do something?

Why are you in my head now?

You know what sucks? Last night while trying to go to bed I thought of another story and it wouldn't let me sleep. I wake up and it's still in my thoughts. This can't happen. I have my other story to finish. Does this happen to you? What do you do? I'm wondering if I work on an outline, or maybe write a few scenes that will keep me going. Naturally this has to happen close to November when I'll be focusing on my novel since I want to get the 50,000 words.

Just an update

I feel like I haven't blogged in ages. I didn't forget about you, I swear. Between catching up on reading and writing, I haven't been on. I promise to change that. For those gearing up for November and writing until you can't anymore. Are you excited? Are you starting something new or continuing on with what you are writing now? I really hope I can do this. It's not going to be easy with a full-time job this time. This really was just a pointless blog. Just wanted to say hi. Will try and post more often.

Why him of all people??

I always love when I dream of random people. Someone you haven't thought about in a long time. I had a dream last night where I dreamt about a former crush. Of all the crushes I ever had. Why him? I had a couple who ended up being jerks but he was the one who hurt me the most. I could go into what happened or how my best friend at the time betrayed me but that's a whole other blog post. We'll just say I've learned my lesson and I haven't talked to him in a very long time and the ex best friend? Yeah, not even sure why I let her add me as friend on a facebook. I guess it's because I'm nice, darn it. Doesn't matter anyways because we don't talk despite the fact we have at least thirty mutual friends.

Anyways, moving on. Why do we dream about random people? They say you dream of things you did that day or stuff that is on your mind. Last night, I was thinking about my book or I was reading a book. As far as I know nothing should have triggered a memory of him. It was just weird. After dreaming about him, I keep wondering if it means something. As far as I know he's married with a child. Maybe it's a sign of some sort. I've always been a believer in dreams. I've had dreams where things have definitely meant something and things did happen after that dream. Who knows maybe it was just luck. If that is the case, I just hope that dream last night was just a dream and nothing more. I can tell you this much. If I ever ran into him, I would run the other way. Not because I'm thinking, Oh no! It's him! I'll be thinking, Nope, don't want him to see him, going the other way. After my crush with him was over, we'll just say I heard the song, "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon. That's because I realized what type of man he really was.

Hmmm...what to do...

I'm torn. I definitely am going to write my heart out next month. The issue is that I'm not going to need 50,000 for my novel. I maybe need 25,000 or less. The other 25,000 I'm thinking will be new scenes throughout the novel that I want to add.

So what is the issue? Do I take a break and put it aside until next month? I have other things I could catch up on this month. Like finish up a story on blovelspot. There is also a fanfiction story I'm doing that maybe has two chapters left. Plus I want to work on a competition piece for the Writer's Digest contest.

Is it bad if I put it aside? I'll still write ideas here and there to keep my mind flowing and will definitely lay out scenes but the main writing won't start until November.

NaNoWriMo

I made my decision while in bed last night. I decided to do it. I'm going to do NaNoWriMo again. I'll try my best to win again this year. It will be hard but if you agree to be my writing buddy. We can stick together. :)

To do NaNoWriMo or not to...

A lot of people are talking about NaNoWriMo. Am I going to do it this year? I hope so. Last year I was able to do it but there was that one issue. I was unemployed so it was easy. Now that I am full-time once again. It's going to be a challenge.

I might just sign up and do my best and hope I can get 50,000. Than there is the other issue. Do I start something new or continue my novel? There are so many decisions.

There is also the thought of deadlines. If I can get 50,000 in one month. That would be good practice. Until I can get that novel publish or get some short stories out there. I have to work full-time. So whatever time I have, I'll be writing.

The nice thing is that it's the beginning of October so I have a couple weeks to think about it. What about you? Are you going to join in the fun?

And Another Weekend is Gone

So are we going to be missing another season this year? It seems like we had a short spring this year and now I'm wondering about the fall. I know what you are going to say. Robyn, don't you live in Ohio? Yes I do but I remember having falls. It just seems like we had this hot summer so we should have a nice cool fall. Let's not go right into the thirties. Let's go sixties for awhile. Fifties I can handle but not like this weekend. With the rain, it was too cold. I'm still cold.

I'm actually looking forward to curling up into bed with a good book tonight. If only I didn't have to go to bed knowing what tomorrow is. Tomorrow is Monday. It’s the beginning of what could or could not be a long week. It's also the countdown til Saturday.

I know I'm not alone in this but why do we wish our days away? Why can't we get up on Monday morning and greet the birds outside. Maybe sing a tune. Nope, now it's slamming your hand on the snooze button. Next when you get yourself out of bed, it's you cursing the morning or reaching for that cup of coffee with your eyes half closed.
